Mining For Tomorrow

Posted: February 23, 2016

The global economic environment and steep fall in commodity prices have presented the entire mining industry with considerable challenges. However, mining continues to have a large impact on the South African economy.

Shift Joe Public was briefed to develop an exhibition stand for Anglo American for the annual Mining Indaba 2016.

Anglo American plays a big part in the lives of South Africans, including a daily number of ongoing initiatives aimed at benefiting communities, investors and the country as a whole.

Given the global volatile mining environment, we challenged ourselves: How can we use the platform of an exhibition stand to tell the story of how mining has a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of South Africans, now and in the future?

We created a stand that would serve a greater purpose, one that would outlive the Mining Indaba 2016 and benefit the community for years to come.

Post the Mining Indaba, the exhibition container will be repurposed and make its way to Lovedale Primary School in Kroonstad where it will be used as a library.
